Informations for New Students

Dear readers,

these pages offer you an overview on the study possibilities in the Department of Computer Science at Kaiserslautern University of Technology. They address everybody who considers taking up the studies of computer science or changing from another study location to Kaiserslautern.

The Department of Computer Science offers three Bachelor's/Master's courses of studies, two courses of studies for teachers, as well as one PhD-program. Among others, this offer is a consequence of the efforts of always adjusting the teaching offer to the needs and requirements of our fast-moving subject.

We hope the information we gathered will help you in choosing the right course of studies.

Why shall I study Computer Science at Kaiserslautern?

There are many reasons to study computer science at Kaiserslautern University of Technology:

What course of studies is the right one for me?

There are five different Courses of Studies in the department of computer science:

Bachelor's course of studies
consecutive Master's course of studies (building-up on Bachelor's)
non-consecutive Master's course of studies (for lateral-entry students with a Bachelor's degree)
Teaching positions at grammar schools and vocational colleges
Computer Science PhD-program

How do I become a student at Kaiserslautern University of Technology?

How do my studies start?

At the beginning of the studies, various introduction lectures will be offered:

Introduction week of students' union computer science (1 - 17 October 2009, enrollment necessary!)
Pre-Course on Mathematics (6 - 17 October 2009), enrollment required!)
Computer introduction and computer training by SCI
Lectures on: "Introduction into the studies of computer science"

Overview on introduction week
The starter info "Hitchhiker" is available at the students' union as a PDF-File and in a printed form from the students' union and in the dean's office respectively.

How does it go on?
