"Deep Learning Based Learning Analytics and Augmentation"

The research is focused on investigating how Deep Learning approaches could benefit in analyzing learning in educationational domain. Due to several limitations, including the difficulty of labeling and the insufficient amount of data, many researchers in the education domain and cognitive science are still utilizing traditional machine learning approaches, such as Support Vector Machine and Random Forest for learning analysis. The main goal of my research is to resolve this problem by investigating the state-of-art deep neural networks and proposing a new method adjusted into the educational domain for effectively determining the student engagement in learning. As a use case, a student engagement monitoring system is planning to be developed with a feedback mechanism, which could further be used to optimize the learning environment. In addition to that, a long term intervention of the feedback mechanism could be used to determine the performance variation of learning in students.
