Study Plan Socioinformatics

Changes at the sociology professorship required modifica-tions of the basic module “Sociology”. In addition to the mandatory module “Einführung in die Soziologie” (5 CP) you can now choose between the two lectures “Soziolo-gische Handlungs- und Entscheidungstheorie“ and “Einfüh-rung in die Sozialstrukturanalyse“ – 5 CP each.

Bachelor: Additional Oral Examination

New exam regulations (“Rahmenprüfungsordnung”) allow additional oral examinations after three unsuccessful at-tempts of written exams. This is effective for all exams started this semester (Wintersemester 2015/2016): http://tukl.de/nmulx

Planned Tutor Project

To meet the increasing demand in tutorials, the department is looking for additional student tutors for next semester. Students have the opportunity to participate in a tutors’ programme that will become part of the standard curriculum as a module with 4 CP. Interested tutors will attend a short coaching and learn to prepare and manage their own tutorials in cooperation with their teacher. The Department of Computer Science wants to establish this new credit-point based model in addition to the pecuniary model where tutors get paid as a student teacher. Please contact Mr Bogner (bogner@cs.uni-kl.de) if you have any questions regarding the Tutor Project.

Computer science in life sciences (Computer Science in Applications)

Next semester Professor Markus Nebel will leave our faculty/department. We cannot assure you to continue the course of study “Computer science in life sciences”. Under these circumstances the Department of Computer Science advises you not to start this course of study at the moment.

Planned Update: Skill-based module description

The educational objectives and the learning content in the module descriptions will be improved during the next months. Consistent skill based patterns will help students as well as teachers to better understand the learning requirements of a certain module.

Proposed Restructuring of Teaching Areas (Computer Science (B.Sc.)

Members of the department are discussing pros and cons of a proposed restructuring of our teaching areas. The goal is to reduce some bottlenecks which might occur in some modules. The teaching areas could be reorganized in accordance to our three main research areas: “Embedded Systems”, “Intelligent Distributed Information Systems” and “Scientific Computing”. Subject to discussion is also a combination of core and basic modules.
