Computer Science Research in Kaiserslautern

IT-Forschung in Kaiserslautern

The Department of Computer Science and the institutes in Kaiserslautern carry out basic and application research in many modern subject areas of computer science. The main focus is the engineering-based construction of informatics systems with emphasis on:

ES Embedded systems
IVIS Intelligent, distributed information systems and
SC Scientific Computing

The department is made up of 24 work groups with different subjects with a total of over one hundred scientists.

In addition to several small projects the department is currently participating in the following coordinated research projects and alliances:

ARAMIS BMBF Project "Automotive, Railway and Avionics Multicore Systems"
(CM)² Center for Mathematical Modelling and the conversion to algorithms
GLab BMBF Project "Studies and experimental platform for the internet of the future".
HATS EU Project "Highly Adaptable and Trustworthy Software using Formal Models"
iGreen BMBF Project "a network of location-based services and knowledge to integrate distributed various public and private information".
IRTG International Research Training Group of the DFG (IRTG) "Visualization of Large and Unstructured Data Sets, Applications in Geospatial Planning, Modeling and Engineering".
SPES2020 BMBF Project "Software Platform Embedded Systems"
Software-Cluster BMBF high performance clusters for the research focus "Emergente Software"
VIERforES BMBF Project "Virtual and augmented reality for the highest security and reliability of embedded systems".
ZNT Research focus for Rheinland-Pfalz "Center for commercial vehicle technology".
